  Read the article and it brought me back on here. Not been on any forum for a long time but the article upset me and I wanted to check in with others going thru the same stuff as I have been/am.

  Bravely (foolishly?) decided to post a link to the article on my FB page even tho it means my "in" mother and sister will see it. Oh well.

  its been a long time since i've been on here and even longer since i posted so firstly hi!.

  i'm doing a college course and my group's project is on cults and the tactics of mind control.

  i was hoping people on here could suggest books, websites and any other hints and tips.

  Lifton's criteria are on the factnet site too so I've already included them in my section of the project which is a 5 minute talk on cult tactics and characteristics....deja vu or what?! Hahaha but at least I'll know what do to on the night we've to present this project. It'll have been 2 and a half years since my last 5 min talk though under very different circumstances!

  If we are to grant that to Genesis, then we must also say that the Enuma Elish (Babylonian Creation Myth) "got it right" because it shows a similar progression of events.

  Good point. I'll have to remember that one.

  I think the quote you're talking about in the Creation book was by Wallace Pratt. His quote was made in the 1920s I think. Whereas this book I mentioned in the original message was only published July 09. So therefore it's "new light"!

  Discussing Blood with JW relatives?

  What happens when there are children involved? They are not adults but their mind-controlled parents inflict their own beliefs and decisions on them, with possible lethal consequences.

  i was that one way to increase my field service time for me and my wife was by standing at a truck stop and hand out tapes to truckers in the early mornings.

  this is the same lot that is frequented by drug dealers and hookers.

  another time, while studying, i said i did not understand the blood issue.

  and for a friend of mine, he had an alcohol problem. i recommended he seek doctors help. he told me that two elders at that time told him to read more and increase personal study and that would help take the need for drinking away.

  Pray, study, meetings, service

  That is their answer for everything - no matter what the problem or the severity of it.
